Droupadi Murmu Virtually Launched Ayushman Bhav Campaign for Universal Health Coverage 

President Droupadi Murmu, in a historic virtual ceremony, launched the Ayushman Bhav campaign and the Ayushman Bhava portal from the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar, marking a significant stride towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in India. This campaign aims to enhance the accessibility and affordability of healthcare services, especially for underserved communities. 

President Murmu praised the Ayushman Bhav campaign for its multi-ministerial approach, highlighting its potential to bring healthcare services to the remotest corners of India. This approach is instrumental in realizing the ambitious goal of providing healthcare to all. 

The Ayushman Bhav campaign is aligned with the vision of creating 'Healthy Villages' and 'Healthy Gram Panchayats,' laying the foundation for achieving Universal Health Coverage in the country. Panchayats that successfully saturate the health schemes will earn the prestigious title of 'Ayushman Gram Panchayat' or 'Ayushman Urban Ward,' symbolizing their dedication to equitable healthcare provision. 

Host Cities of Subroto Cup 2023: Bengaluru, Delhi and Gurugram  

The Subroto Cup International Football Tournament, India’s oldest national inter-school football competition, is set to make history in its 62nd edition.  

The Tournament is named after the first Indian Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee, It is an annual event that began in 1960. This is a unique tournament where in the champion school teams from all states and foreign countries participate in this tournament, making it one of the most noteworthy school-level football competitions.  

Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India, has been added to the list of host cities for this prestigious event. Previously held in Delhi and Gurugram, the tournament is scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 23, 2023, across three venues. 

From a modest start in 1960 with teams only from Delhi, today, almost 34,000 school teams from all over the country take part in this prestigious tournament starting from the state level. Teams from Brazil, Australia, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Switzerland, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Israel, Bhutan, UAE, Indonesia and Uzbekistan have participated in this tournament in the recent past giving it an international stature. 

Maharashtra Beats Karnataka to Win 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 

Maharashtra clinched the title of champions in the 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2023 by securing a convincing victory over Karnataka, concluding with a final score of 31-10.  

This championship, which took place at Balewadi in Pune from September 10 to September 11, 2023, was marked by intense competition and served as a testament to the impressive development of wheelchair rugby in India. The 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2023 was organized by The Indian Rugby Football Union (Rugby India), the governing body for rugby in India. 

Country which Ranked First in the World Best Countries Report 2023 – Switzerland 

Switzerland has once again claimed the title of the world’s best country, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Countries rankings. This marks Switzerland’s second consecutive year at the pinnacle and its sixth time overall as the No. 1 nation on the list. 

In 2023, India’s ranking improved by one position, securing the 30th spot with an overall score of 40.8. In the previous year, in 2022, India held the 31st position out of 85. 

India achieved its most remarkable performance in the “Movers” category, securing the 5th position. This category evaluates countries based on their potential for future growth and their readiness to face challenges presented by the global economy. In the realm of cultural influence and heritage, India attained the 29th and 10th positions, respectively. In the power category, India claimed the 12th spot.
